Pitch your project idea: Link to G-Form, pitch until April 16th, 3.00 PM CEST

Hey everyone,

the HR Hackathon kick-off is due by the end of this week.

Time to pitch your project idea for the event.

I will have to mention one important thing about project ideas and projects entering the competition to be judged:

  • even if you have already started working on your project idea and do not look for other team members, you need to indicate your project idea in this list. Only projects that have been communicated on this list, will enter the competition and will be judged.

Here's how the project idea process goes:

  • below, I inserted the link to a Google Form.
  • if you have a project idea, head over to the form and fill in all necessary data
  • idea pitches start now until this Thursday, April 16th, 3.00 PM CEST
  • your project idea will not be communicated publicly before the official event kick-off
  • after the project idea pitches deadline, I will collect all ideas to put them in a Google spreadsheet
  • I will provide each project with a unique ID number
  • this ID number is important for all further event communication abot your project
    • for example, every project ID will have its own Slack Channel with the associated project number
  • right after the official kick-off session, I will send the link to the project list to everyone registered here on DevPost
  • project idea managers are responsible for their project, team building and project management during the event
  • once, everyone has received the project idea list, build your teams. You can do so via Slack in the associated project channel (starting with 1_ID-of-your-project) and by looking at all participants here on DevPost.
  • even if you have already started working on your project idea and do not look for other team members, you need to indicate your project idea in this list. Only projects that have been communicated on this list, will enter the competition and will be judged

When you have submitted a project idea, you are the project manager. Please commit to your project and lead the actions with your team.

Project Pitches

Here's the link to pitch your project idea: Google Form Project Idea Pitches

Make sure you describe your idea with as much detail as possible. Mention what kind of skills and experience you have and you are looking for in your project.

Please note that there will be participants who have never attended an (online) Hackathon before. Some of them will not be software developers but will have many other skills and experience that will be valuable for the success of your product.

Do not judge anyone who seems to lack this or that particular skill.

Be kind, fair and open-minded.

Adhere to the HR Hackathon Code of Conduct (details here, scroll to end of page).

Ideas to think about - inspiration

Here are some things to think about if you want to pitch a project:

  • when you think of Covid-19, work life, HR and HRTech: what are the pain points right now?
  • what are the things you have struggled most with during the past 3 weeks while working from home in isolation?
  • what are tools, apps and resources everyone needs the most right now?
  • which systems or tools could be improved or be integrated with another to make work life for HR, employees, freelancers and job seekers easier today?

How to come up with a great project idea - more inspiration

  • think about a project idea you would like to work on during the HR Hackathon online.
  • what kind of product would improve your work life?
  • what would you like to change in your current work life?
  • what tool would improve the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee feedback cycle, the data security and storage so that organisations, employees, freelancers and job seekers will have better and safer working conditions, in particular in light of Covid-19?
  • as a rule of thumb for project ideas, let your imagination fly: Come up with the craziest thing you'd love to build for HR, employees, freelancers or job seekers in these crazy times.
  • the crazier the idea, the better it will point out the direction in which HR Tech is heading.
  • you might create the next big thing!

The HR Hackathon online is the safe environment to test your idea even if you think it's completely wild.
Try it out.

Get familiar with the submissions requirements and judging criteria right here on DevPost.

Have fun, and invite your friends to sign up, too.

Looking forward to e-meeting you all soon!

Kind regards from Strasbourg,

Eva
